Provence Cellphone Towers Eco-Friendly
We recently discovered a nicely-disguised cellphone tower by the Lac de Carcès in the Var. This seems to have taken a special effort and, presumably, a special price. While it's very nice for the forested environment here, this is hardly a tourist-heavy site, so we especially applaud the descision makers.
Another cunningly desiguised cellphone tower is located at the very tourist-centric village of Gordes in the Vaucluse. This one is at the entrance to the village, a very heavily-travelled route, and still nobody seemed to notice the subterfuge - which is reallly the idea. Even sitting at the small "place" where it's located, we watched other people walking all around the spot - without spotting the reality.
Where the Carces Lake cellphone tower has a small stone-finished building for the technical bits, the same function at Gordes is built to resemble a borie, the iconic dry-stone huts of that area.
If any of you have discovered any others, we would love to hear about them.
