The Alpes-Maritimes mountain village of Utelle is online (sort of) in Beyond, and we have a page for yesterday's Utelle Hike.
We arrived at Utelle village well before sunrise, when colorful photography isn't so good. We set off into the mountains northward before 7 AM, arriving near the hamlet of Le Figaret mid-morning. A wander around there, then a long, gradual climb along the western side of the Gorges de Vésubie heading south and southeast, through lovely shading trees.
A bit before noon we reached the road well below Utelle, and then spent an hour trudging up a very steep hillside exposed to the August mid-day sun, arriving back at the village a bit after noon.
Not much energy for a proper photo review of Utelle village then, so we're relying on our external photos only. On our last visit to Utelle, some years ago, we were bad-weathered out of a photo-shoot. We'll return soon to try it again.
Meanwhile, the photos of the Utelle hike are nice, if you like that sort of thing. All this follows, of course, our loop hike from Cros d'Utelle, in the same mountains, just to whe south of here.
